CCP: FACIAL RECOGNITION

In the Interests of demonstrating that COUNTER CRIME PARTNERSHIP is an active scheme by continuing to update our Deterrent Signage, we have introduced a vivid new colour...

As we return to normaility after the rush of Christmas, New Year and the January Sales, CCP Volunteers will be visiting member premises asking to replace the comical and festive Christmas Deterrent Stickers with a new standard Sticker for 2020/2021 which includes the mention of FACIAL RECOGNITION on a new yellow strip which stands out vividly against the blue.

Now there is some controversy over the use of Facial Recognition in the UK in general so we have checked with a Focus Group of Head Offices and they are happy, however if any Store Managers feel strongly enough against the wording then the previous versions of the Stickers are still available. The reality is of course that we are implying the use of Facial Recognition as if there are some kind of hidden cameras in store to deter Offenders; whereas this is NOT the case. At CCP the technology is only used behind the scenes to ensure against duplication. For example, if you create a new Offender Record when adding an Incident to SentrySIS, the system should be able to tell us ifthat person does already exist in the database.

Scott PEPPER, Founder of CCP said: "Personally, if a Baddie is put off from entering one of our Shops becasue they believe we have super-duper advanced technology, is that such a bad thing?"

CCP can be adopted by Community Safety Partnerships (CSP), Business Improvement Districts (BID) or Businessess Against Crime (BAC) organisations either in full under the CCP branding OR white labelled under a district's existing scheme branding.
